Ideal for hikers and walkers, this trail offers a serene experience with few encounters with fellow explorers. The best times to explore this trail are from April through October, but please note that dogs are not allowed. Along this trail, you'll uncover the rich history of one of the final battles during the Modoc War and witness remarkable examples of volcanism. If you visit in late spring or early summer, you'll be treated to stunning wildflower displays. Access the trailhead conveniently from a pullout along the main road.
