Winter Bird Festival offers nature enthusiasts of all ages more than 20 individual activities, including exclusive preserve tours, educational presentations, wildlife shows, art displays, wine walk, hometown history, hands-on activities, guest speakers and more. More than 3,000 participants each year immerse themselves in this natural treasure while discovering the fascinating world of bird and habitat conservation. 

Winter Bird Festival is unique in many ways:

The Winter Wings brings together birders and photographers to learn and explore with top notch professionals and enthusiastic local guides. The Klamath Basin is renowned for its massive wintering population of Bald Eagles, but is prime habitat for many other raptors including owls, as well as a diversity of waterfowl. 

The 2023 Festival will feature singer/songwriter and raptor specialist Jen Hajj and award-winning photographer Ray Hennessy. 

Some of the birds you may see: American Kestrel, Bald Eagle, Golden Eagle, Ferruginous Hawk, Rough-legged Hawk, Peregrine Falcon, Prairie Falcon, White-headed Woodpecker, Cackling Goose, Greater White-fronted Goose, Snow Goose, Ross’s Goose, Tundra Swan, Barrow’s Goldeneye, Eurasian Wigeon, Loggerhead Shrike, Northern Shrike, Northern Pygmy-Owl, Sandhill Crane, Black-crowned Night-Heron, Great Blue Heron

San Diego Bird Festival is a celebration of the wild birds and habitats in San Diego County. Come to sunny San Diego to look for birds—we’ve got one of the largest checklists of any county in the US!
