Art and Photography of Glenn and Jesse Justus

October 14, 2018 12:00pm–4:00pm

The Klamath Art Gallery presents a memorable and inspiring exhibit by local father and son, Glenn and Jesse Justus. Works range from stunning photography by Jesse Justus, to outstanding woodworking and painting by Jesse’s father, Glenn. The opening reception for the artists will be held on Sunday, October 7th, from noon to 4 PM. The exhibit will continue through Sunday, October 28th.

Glenn Justus was born in the West Virginia mountains in a little place called Cabin Creek. Justus has travelled a good portion of the globe and his paintings reflect the images captured by his camera. In addition, Justus has been a woodcarver since he was old enough to hold a knife and a leather carver since high school. A Renaissance man, Justus is a musician and a luthier, repairing old instruments and building new ones, and a skilled silversmith.

Glenn Justus is a member of the Klamath Writers Guild wherein he writes songs, stories, and poetry. He has recorded twelve CD’s and a book that includes two CD’s of original songs and poetry. He currently resides in Klamath Falls with his wife, son, and four dogs.

Jesse Justus graduated from Klamath Union High School and became interested in photography in the late 90’s. After becoming an expert in digital camerawork, he was drawn to wildlife photography with a concentration in avian photography. Jesse, like his father, is a Renaissance man with memberships in the Klamath Folk Music Society and Photography as well as the Audubon Society.

Admission is always FREE!

October 14, 2018 1:00pm–2:30pm

A Fall Tree Walk and a Tree Problem Panel will be held at the Klamath Community Arboretum at OIT on Sunday, October 14, from 1 pm to 2:30 pm. The event is free.

At 1:00 pm, visitors can join the Arboretum Tree Walk: The Fall and Winter Garden. The tour will focus on evergreen shapes and colors, and fall foliage plants. Visitors can view the Arboretum’s many unusual and colorful conifers. They will get ideas on creating a focal point in the winter garden, and how to combine conifers for backdrops and screening. The tour also will highlight great fall foliage colors and twisting or striking branch shapes. Visitors can contrast the fall color on different maples, crab-apples, oaks, beech and smoke-bush trees. Fall color is expected to be excellent on many trees at that time.

At 1:30 pm, the Tree Problem Panel will focus on the challenges to growing healthy trees in the Klamath Basin. Visitors are asked to bring pictures and/or samples of tree problems. Panelists will answer questions and discuss how to identify and prevent damage from drought, early and late frosts, animal pests and insects.
