Explore your own backyard! Join us for our first gravel ride up to Lake of the Woods for lunch then back home.
We will meet at Zach’s Bikes at 8:30am and leave by 9:00 am. This will be a fairly advanced ride at a moderate pace. We will take the shuttle up to the 16 mile marker on Clover Creek, at the intersection of Buck Lake rd. After getting on the bikes we will head north along Aspen Lake. We will join Hwy 140 for about 2 miles then turn onto Tomahawk NF-3637, Then join NF-3610 headed west. This will put us onto Dead Indian Memorial Hwy which will take us to Lake of the Woods for some AMAZING food. As well as the opportunity to refill the water bottles. This is the half way point in the ride, and marks a change in the terrain. While the ride to Lake of the Woods was on very good gravel roads. The return trip has a few more primitive portions of road to navigate, thrown into a bunch of great gravel roads with some amazing views of Mt Shasta. For the most part we will be near Clover Creek rd. Which makes for a convenient bail-out option if needed. Following Spencer Creek will take us back to the shuttle van. And the relaxing ride back to the bike shop.
Expect to spend a whole day for this adventure, at about 6 hours in the saddle, plus breaks.

What to bring:
Loading the GPS route provided here, onto your cycle computer or phone is recommended. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29295489
Recommend Bicycle Type: Gravel bike with 32c or larger tires. There is about 5 miles where the road gets rough. If you are a skilled rider these sections should be ridable for you. There is a bypass using Clover Creek rd to get around the worst of this area. A Cross Country or hardtail mountain bike could be used also.
Demo bicycles can be reserved with Zach’s Bikes at no charge for our Group rides. If you are interested in a demo bicycle please call a few days in advance to see what’s available and to reserve yours!
There may be a modest charge for riders wanting to use the shuttle van to access the ride. You are welcome to drive yourself.
