Star Party

November 12, 2022 @ 5:00 pm

Star party offered by museum

A star party to view planets, stars and galaxies will be offered Saturday, Nov. 12, by the Klamath County Museum.

The free astronomy event will be held at Sukraw Farms, located at mile post 4 on Lower Klamath Lake Road. Participants should plan to arrive around 5:00 p.m. Telescopes will be set up for viewing.

“We’ll be giving people instructions on how to find the Andromeda galaxy, which they can easily view with just a pair of binoculars,” said museum director Todd Kepple. “The skies are very dark along Lower Klamath Lake Road, and that will make it easier to spot our neighboring galaxy.”

The planets Jupiter and Saturn are also visible in the evening sky this fall. Amateur astronomers will be on hand to locate various deep-sky objects.

Anyone who has a personal telescope they would like help with is invited to arrive early, around 4:30 p.m. A volunteer will be available to assist in use of telescope.

For more information, contact the Klamath County Museum at (541) 882-1000.
