Mitchell Monument – Remembering 75 Years
September 19 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
*** Note – The Mitchell Monument 75th Remembrance, originally scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, has been moved to Saturday, September 19, 2020, due to health and public safety concerns related to COVID-19, also known as the novel coronavirus. The agenda may be adjusted given the new date. Updated information on the event will be provided as it becomes available. For questions or more information, please contact using the information below. Thank you for your understanding as we make this adjustment.
Join the Bly Community Action Team, Fremont-Winema National Forest, Green Diamond Resource Company and Standing Stone Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance to commemorate 75 years and remember those killed by a Japanese fugo or balloon bomb in the forest – the only WWII casualties on the continental United States as a result of enemy action.
The main event will take place Saturday, September 19 at Mitchell Monument starting at 2 p.m. with a presentation, followed by refreshments at 3:15 p.m.
There will be local events before and after the ceremony. A full schedule will be available ahead of the event.
The road to the Monument is a Forest Road generally passable by passenger vehicles but is rough. Travel time in good conditions is approximately 30 minutes from Bly. Drivers should prepare accordingly. Carpooling is strongly encouraged.
If you have questions or need assistance with transportation or require other reasonable accommodations to participate in the event, please email email@example.com.
For planning purposes, please RSVP to this event. Capacity numbers may be adjusted according to interest.
