Klamath Ice Sports will present “LUV 2 SK8!,” its 20th annual figure skating spectacular, at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the Bill Collier Community Ice Arena. Three U.S. champion skaters will headline the ice show, which will be directed and choreographed by Autumn Morin.
The U.S. men’s champion, Max Aaron, who is making his third appearance here will be joined by Mirai Nagasu and Mariah Bell, both a U.S. ladies’ champions who will each be making their first appearance in Klamath Falls.
Also featured in this year’s event are senior ice dance medalists Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko, along with a cast of other talented figure skaters, including both single and pair skaters.
“Figure skating is one of the most popular spectator sports in the world because it uniquely combines beauty, grace, and athleticism with the speed, thrills, and excitement inherent to the sport,” notes Charles Cossey, who taught skating for 18 years at the ice arena and who has served as the announcer for each of the ice shows.
“In putting together what has become a very popular local event, we think it is important to have each of the four skating disciplines represented,” according to Bill Anderson, executive director of Klamath Ice Sports, “including men’s and women’s singles together with pairs and ice dance.”
Also in the cast of skaters is Paige Rydberg from Colorado, Samuel Mindra and Alena Budko from the Portland area, each a senior level competitive skater, along with junior pair skaters Lilliana Murray and Jordan Gillette from Chicago and Ellie Korytek, and Timmy Chapman from Los Angeles.
They will be joined by Jamie Ann Chandler from the Portland area, who skates with hoops, and the Klamath Kids, a group of young local skaters who train at the Bill Collier Ice Arena.
